Harley davidson battery not holding charge. I put a brand new stator in the bike and it burnt up the rectifier. My 2000 harley davidson motorcycle wont hold a charge. Battery not holding charge.

Why is my motorcycle battery not holding a charge. What would cause the alternator to not charge the battery. Start the bike and test the voltage at the battery with the bike running it should.

I have tested the stator and VR and havent found a problem. The Battery and Check engine light came on while driving down the hig. Located within the primary chaincase on the left side of the engine the alternator is difficult to visually inspect.
